Demodex mites are microscopic mites which feed on the oils, hormones and other fluids around our hair follicles. Although you don’t see them, most people have them. They are usually present in the head area, particularly liking our eyelashes and eyebrows. Demodex mites are a contributing factor in Meibomian Gland Dysfunction, Blepharitis and other eyelid irritations.
Common symptoms (which may vary) include: red, irritated, itchy eyelids and the formation of cylindrical collarets on the base of the lashes.
